I’ve been playing with my iPhone camera recently- and thought I’d post some of the more interesting images I’ve made with it. An application called CameraBag that I’ve had for a while lets me emulate some of my favorite film cameras and just recently I got a tilt shift emulator that is a lot of fun. These are a few images, all taken with the iPhone camera and edited in camera(phone) with either the CamerBag or TiltShiftGen applications. Technically someone else took that photo of me and I think Brad took the one of himself… but whatever. Good stuff either way.

An outtake from today’s “Google parade” here in Peoria. Woodruff High School cheerleaders practice an impromptu Google cheer before marching in a parade supporting Peoria’s bid to become a Google high-speed Internet test city on Monday afternoon on Water St. in Peoria.

I shot Peoria Richwoods take on Hillcrest for the class 3A state title game on Saturday afternoon at Carver Arena in Peoria. Richwoods fell to Hillcrest 55-58. I covered everything off the court while two of my co-workers shot game action.
That’s the last of basketball for the season.

I had a great time the other day shooting Richwoods High School junior Matt Elliott for the Journal Star Swimmer of the Year portrait. It was his third year in a row receiving the title. This season he won state in both the 200 meter individual medley and the 100 meter breath stroke, in which he set a new state record. Lucky for me there was a little window looking into the high school’s pool under the water. I had a strobe set up directly above him and was still able to trigger it with a remote transmitter from my position shooting through the glass in the room below the pool. Matt was a great sport about trying a bunch of different poses with his eyes open under the water and getting his medals wet. Anyway, it was a fun shoot and the final product turned out great.

Pat

I shot No. 1 ranked (Peoria) Richwoods High School defeat my alma mater, No. 6 Rock Island High School, 59-53 in a class 3A Sectional final game on Friday night in Ottawa, Ill. It was a great game to watch and shoot- lots of emotion in a small packed gym.
Best,
Pat

From two very different Saturday feature assignments today.

Friends and family of homicide victim Dustin Englebrecht along with members of the community gathered at Mineral Springs Park in Pekin on Saturday evening for a candlelight vigil in his memory. The Mason City man was found in a shallow grave behind a family barn on Sept. 7. Six months later, his case remains unsolved. In the top photo, Cheryl Potts (left), Dustin’s mother, kisses Amanda Hunt, his sister. “People still care,” said Potts. “We’re not going to give up.”
